Based on the interview with the families of the 44 PNP-SAF by the Northern and Central Luzon (NCL) AMO under Region III OIC Romuel P. Alimboyao, housing assistance was one of their priority concerns. The NHA contacted each of the families and informed them of three options for availment: completed housing unit in NHA Project Site or acquisition of housing units outside of NHA but not to exceed PhP 300,000.00; housing materials assistance program for the repair/reconstruction of their houses and lastly, the construction of housing unit in lots preferred, identified and owned by the families. For families who will avail of housing within NHA sites, they will have a scheduled site visit. On the other hand, families who will opt for the construction of housing units, will choose from the designs of NHA and the construction cost will be shouldered by the Office of the President and NHA.

NHA Regional Offices will directly assist the families once they have decided which option to take. 44 PNP-SAF personnel were killed during a clash with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) where they were about to serve arrest warrants to two suspected terrorists – Malaysian Jemaah Islamiyah leader Zulkifli bin Hir also known as Marwan and Filipino bomb maker Abdulbasit Usman.
