All roads and drainage systems lead to NHA-CDO's SIR

Economic growth and development have reached the National Housing Authority(NHA) Slum Improvement Resettlement (SIR) in Barangays Macabalan-Puntod (MaPu) and Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. Former slum areas, MaPu is now one of the gates for economic growth here in Mindanao. The rehabilitation of the roads and drainage are means to improve economic activities.

Further, this will also lead to cleaner and environment-friendly atmosphere for the welfare of all the beneficiaries of NHA-SIR areas. This PHP 60 million 5.82 kilometer road and drainage system rehabilitation project will approximately benefit 7,652 families.

NHA Assistant General Manager Froilan R. Kampitan, Ar. Ma. Alma T. Valenciano, NHA-Mindanao Group Manager, City Councilors of Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Macabalan-Puntod-Lapasan Barangay Officials together with the project authors District 2 Congressmen Rufus B. Rodriguez and Maximo B. Rodriguez, Jr. graced the laying of capsules on every segment of the project during the groundbreaking ceremony held last March 20, 2015 at Brgy. Macabalan, CDO.

The project covers road concreting, construction of concrete lined canals, footbridges, paraphets, creek desilting, and steel railings installation. Out of the PHP 60 million budget, Php 40 million is allotted for the MaPu SIR while Php 20 million is earmarkedfor the Lapasan SIR respectively.
