Six hundred eight (608) fire-victim families from Brgy. Addition Hills received P30,000.00 cash assistance each from the National Housing Authority (NHA) on November 27, 2021.
This developed after NHA General Manager Marcelino P. Escalada, Jr., approved the release of P18.240 million financial grants under the Authority’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).
The financial grant was distributed by NHA during the awarding ceremony at the Jose Fabella Memorial School led by NHA West Sector Regional Manager Luz Evangelista, Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos, Vice Mayor Anthony Surva, and NHA San Juan/Mandaluyong District Manager Rodrigo P. Rocillo
Joining the event were Mandaluyong City councilors, Charisse Abalos-Vargas, Grace Antonio, Rodolfo Posadas, Benjie Abalos, Danny de Guzman, Addition Hills Barangay Chairperson Carlito Cernal, and other NHA West Sector officers and staff.
Also expected to receive the cash assistance by the first quarter of 2022 are 378 families whose houses were damaged or destroyed by fire.
Meanwhile, the EHAP was implemented pursuant to NHA Board Resolution No. 5430 on February 24, 2012. It was formerly known as Housing Materials Assistance Program (HOMA), aimed to assist households and families affected by calamities. Through the initiative of Senator Bong Go and the leadership of GM Escalada, the EHAP has enabled a quicker response and release of assistance to low-income families and informal settler families (ISFs).
