The NHA together with the Valenzuela City LGU conducted the closing ceremony of the Disiplina Village Project in Brgy. Bignay, Valenzuela today, July 28, 2022.
Mounted as the largest in-city resettlement site in the Philippines, 104 buildings have been constructed across 11.3 hectares of land wherein over 3,310 families had been relocated. These beneficiaries were previously informal settler families (ISFs) living along danger areas and waterways of Valenzuela City, while some were displaced by government projects.
NHA NCR- North Sector Regional Manager Engr. Jovita G. Panopio in her opening message emphasized the remarkable excellence of the project and reminded the beneficiaries of their responsibility in maintaining the awarded units. “Sa biyaya ng maykapal, ito ay natapos at natitirahan na ngayon. Tunay nga na ito’y matagumpay na proyekto, kaya nga po aking pinapayo at pinakikiusap sa ating mga benepisyaryo na ingatan ang mga pabahay ng NHA na handog sa atin lalo na ng maykapal,” RM Panopio said.
Started in 2014, this disaster-resilient project features a 16sqm unit with 11sqm loftable space, complete with bathroom and laundry service area. Aside from the awarded units, beneficiaries also have an access to community facilities in the area that include sports and recreational venues, a livelihood center, fire protection center, as well as supermarkets.
Having been continually lauded for its success, the Disiplina Village project has become a benchmark for various LGUs across the country for their respective resettlement projects. Living true to its name, the residents are presently living in true peace and harmony within the neighborhood. Aside from the president of the Disiplina Village Home Owners’ Association (HOA) cluster, building, and floor leaders are also assigned to ensure proper discipline and courtesy within the community.
In his inspirational message, Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian thanked the NHA for its continuous efforts that led to the success of this project. “Salamat sa NHA, hindi lang po units ang tini-turnover namin sa inyo, kundi magandang buhay para sa mga Valenzuelanos. Ngayon po ay nagagamapanan na natin ang pangarap na aming ipinangako para sa inyong mga benepisyaryo.”, said Mayor Gatchalian.
By the end of September 2022, a total of 4,500 families are expected to have settled and occupied each unit in the said project. With this in mind, the NHA shall continue to enforce amortization schedules and implement collection protocols in order to attain the targeted collection efficiency of the Authority. This shall ensure that all beneficiaries will be able to fully acquire their respective units.
With its completion to date, Mayor Wes Gatchalian revealed that two more phases of the Disiplina Village project are soon to be erected across the city. Two projects are planned to be constructed in Brgy. Arkong Bato while one will be erected in Brgy. Ugong. These will serve as new homes for the continual relocation activities and livelihood initiatives across the city.
Also present in the event were Valenzuela City Congressman Rex Gatchalian, Malabon Navotas Valenzuela (MaNaVa) District Office Manager Engr. Nora E. Aniban, DHSUD NCR Representative Mr. Alvin Avelino, Valenzuela City Councilors Cristina M. Feliciano-Tan and Ramon Encarnacion, Brgy.
