As promised by President Rodrigo R. Duterte to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics heroes for bringing pride and glory to the country, the National Housing Authority (NHA) awarded the two medalists with a house and lot package on October 7, 2021.

Olympian boxers Carlo Paalam of Bukidnon, and Nesthy Petecio of Davao del Sur, who both brought home silver medals from the recently concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympics, were the recipients of fully-furnished house-and-lot units amounting to P1,568,314.08 million each in Davao City.

NHA General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. awarded the house and lot to Paalam and Petecio in the Blue Farm Villa, one of the Government Employees Housing Program (GEHP) sites located in Tugbok District, Davao City, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the Tokyo Olympics.

The Blue Farm Villa Project is a 14.628-hectare land consisting of conventional duplex housing units with a modal lot size of 80 square meters and a floor area of 60 square meters; open garage and two bedrooms.

GM Escalada thanked the athletes for bringing honor to the country, saying “I would like to give my thanks to our athletes that made their way in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. More than anything else, the efforts that they exerted and they have shown in trying to get the first and only medals right now for the Philippines is something that everyone should be grateful. Not only for bringing the name of their associations or of the games but even in uplifting the moral of the people and the nation as well, specially during the time of pandemic.”

“We need something, we need somebody, we need an event that will also inspire and trigger everyone to a higher level of happiness and that is something that we, from the government, particularly the NHA do, we share in the success of our athletes. May this simple and meaningful turnover inspire everyone to also strive more. So sa ating mga atleta, rest assured that the President, the Philippine Sports Commission and your NHA, will be here to somehow give our support and assistance in whatever way we can to help them. So satanan thank you very much and this may inspire a lot of our athletes that will be playing and competing for this country. Ang gihigugma nato nga Pilipinas. Thank you,” GM Escalada added.

It may be recalled that on September 2, 2021, NHA awarded Olympians Staff Sergeant Hidilyn Diaz and Sgt. Eumir Marcial, gold and bronze medalists, respectively, with fully-furnished units in Cabaluay Place worth P1.8 million each in Zamboanga City.
