Three hundred (300) fire-victim families received a total of P9 million in financial assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA) on November 22, 2021. NHA Region 12 Manager Zenaida Cabiles led the awarding of cash assistance of P30,000.00 to each family whose houses were destroyed.

Joining Engr. Cabiles were South Cotabato and General Santos City First District Representative Shirlyn L. Bañas-Nograles, General Santos/Socsksargen/South Cotabato Acting District Manager Fritzie Punzalan.

On November 3, 2021, a fire razed in the coastal community of Purok Saeg, at Brgy. Calumpang, General Santos City that destroyed 300 houses. Under the EHAP, NHA awards financial grants to families for the construction and repair of houses destroyed by calamities. The housing assistance is provided to qualified beneficiaries depending on the extent of the damage to their homes.

Meanwhile, EHAP was formerly known as Housing Materials Assistance Program. Through the initiative of Senator Bong Go, EHAP enabled quicker response and release of assistance to low-income families and informal settler families (ISFs).
