An NHA employee receives his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

A total of 420 employees and allied workers of the National Housing Authority received the COVID-19 vaccine last July 22, 2021, held at the NHA Multi-Purpose Center in Quezon City.

This was made possible through the Quezon City local government’s COVID19 vaccination drive known as “QC Resbakuna”.

For Mikki Mariel Dela Cruz, Estate Management (EM) Specialist of NHA South Sector 1 Office, receiving the COVID-19 vaccine is important in her job. “Iyong trabaho namin ay napaka-risky dahil syempre may mga client kami: ang mga residente.” She believes that getting the vaccine does not only protect her from COVID-19 but also encourages her family members to do the same.

With the constant threat of COVID-19, the NHA Vaccine Committee was created on June 9, 2021, to develop the NHA Micro-Plan for setting up a dedicated vaccination site and for the administration of COVID-19 vaccines for the officers and employees reporting in the Main Office and NCR Sector Offices.

In a statement, HRMD Department Manager Lowella L. Manuel said, “our employees are the most important but most vulnerable resources of the Authority during this pandemic. It is imperative to secure their safety and prevent eventual death from COVID-19 through the administration of vaccines.” She added, “as a government agency, we must take an active role in fully supporting the government in the fight against COVID-19.”

Among the preparations conducted for the NHA on-site vaccination were site visits and observations of Quezon City’s Resbakuna sites, as well as planning for the Quezon City Health Office ocular inspection. On July 19, 2021, the Committee together with the QC Health Officers went through a thorough process of reviewing and comments and suggestions provided at the end of the inspection.

Shandy Magracia of NGC-HGC conveyed her gratefulness for the NHA’s efforts in vaccinating its employees and said, “Natutuwa ako na sa NHA ginanap ang vaccination, kasi malapit lang din sa opis namin, saka madali lang po ang process. Maraming salamat po sa organizers.”

“Masaya kasi isa ako sa maraming nabakuhanan dito,” said Arlene Arceo, Housekeeping Attendant, Extra Ordinaire Janitorial and Manpower Services. She also praised and thanked the QC Resbakuna and NHA staff for including them in the vaccination program.

The 420 first dose vaccinated individuals are scheduled to complete their inoculation on October 14, 2021.

On the other hand, another around 111 NHA employees have also received and completed their COVID-19 first and second dose respectively at a special lane for government employees held last June 19, 2021, and July 17, 2021, at the Quezon City Hall Grounds.
