In support of the celebration of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), the National Housing Authority (NHA) held a one-day face-to-face Tactical Self-Defense Training for its women employees on December 9, 2022, at the GSD Traning Room, Quezon City.

The training on Tactical Self-Defense aims to teach women how to defend themselves during life-threatening circumstances, applying tactical defense and combat skills. More than 50 employees from various NHA Departments and Regional Offices participated in the training and have acquired knowledge and basic self-defense skills against sudden violent attacks.

The NHA Gender and Development Advocacy, Networking and Public Communications Committee (GAD-ANPCC), headed by Maricris G. Maninit, Acting Division Manager of the Information Division – Corporate Planning Department, led the said activity in cooperation with Dindo De Jesus, Chief Instructor and Regional Director for Asia Krav Maga Training Center Inc and International Krav Maga Federation Philippines (IKMF).

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art developed for the Israel Defense Forces. A combination of techniques used in Aikido, Judo, Karate, Boxing, and Wrestling. Mr. De Jesus has conducted combat skills training with the Security Officers of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Philippine Security and Protection Group of the PNP, the Presidential Security Group (PSG), the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of Davao City, the First Scout Ranger Regimen of the Philippine Army, DBM, PAGCOR, to name a few.
