A total of 30 housing beneficiaries from the Dinalupihan Heights resettlement village of the National Housing Authority (NHA) completed an in-house skills training seminar on dishwashing and hand soap production held in Brgy. Saguing, Bataan on August 16, 2022.
NHA Region III through its Pampanga/Bataan/Zambales District Office spearheaded the livelihood activity which is geared towards augmenting the family income of housing beneficiaries. The one-hour session aims to comprehensively educate the participants on the process of making household cleaning materials such as dishwashing liquid and hand soap.
Donna Fe R. Jacinto, an NHA housing beneficiary and one of the participants in the livelihood seminar, emphasized that this type of seminar is essential in providing additional income for her family’s daily financial needs. She hopes that more trainings like this will be conducted in the future by the Authority. “Ito po ay malaking bagay para sa aming komunidad upang magkaroon po kami ng panimulang tulong sa pagtatayo ng negosyo na makakasuporta sa aming pamilya,” she added.
The NHA livelihood training has helped beneficiaries engage in business opportunities that promote hygiene and sanitation, which are essential factors in the promotion of healthy families, communities and organizations to whom they can market their products. After the seminar, the participants received starter kits for their first batch of saleable cleaning materials.
Apart from cleaning materials production, other livelihood programs are also implemented by the NHA such as skills trainings on urban gardening, entrepreneurship, livelihood caravans and other programs.
NHA Pampanga/Bataan/Zambales District Office Community Support Services Unit officers Olivia N. Tiamzon, Jayanna Fleah Dico and Fernan Guina were also present to provide assistance in conducting the said training.
