More than 15,000 families in Palawan whose houses were damaged and destroyed by Super Typhoon Odette last December 2021 received financial assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA).

NHA General Manager (GM) Joeben Tai approved the release of the Special Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) to 15,463 affected families from Puerto Princesa, Roxas, San Vicente, Taytay, and El Nido, Palawan.

Under the NHA Special EHAP, each family shall receive P10,000 pursuant to NHA Memorandum Circular No. 2021-070, wherein NHA Regional Offices who were greatly affected by the said typhoon are authorized to release additional funding to be distributed to each qualified beneficiary-family as a grant to augment in rebuilding their houses, regardless of the extent of damage sustained. This program is NHA’s response to Presidential Directive No. 2021-074 instructing concerned agencies to provide various assistance to families in the Typhoon Odette-affected areas.

NHA Regional IV Manager Roderick T. Ibañez and Special Assistant to the GM Rovin Andrew M. Feliciano represented GM Tai in the ceremonial distribution of P8,240,000 financial assistance in the affected municipalities of Palawan on November 11 and 12, 2022, for 824 families.

In his video message, GM Tai assured that other family-beneficiaries who were not part of the ceremonial event would still receive their cash grants in the following days and weeks through the help of the MIMAROPA District.

For this event alone, 200 families in Puerto Princesa, Roxas, San Vicente, and Taytay were present in their respective distribution events, while 24 families were present during the distribution in El Nido.

Meanwhile, the NHA has already released P2.391 billion pesos cash assistance since GM Tai assumed his post on August 1, 2022.
