The National Housing Authority (NHA) had released a P15 million funding assistance to the municipal government of Alcala, Pangasinan on October 22, 2021, for the development of a resettlement project in the province.

NHA Region I/CAR-1- Manager Engr. Maria Belinda V. Sevalla led the turnover of the first tranche of the P25 million budget allocated to Alcala, Pangasinan in the amount of P15 million to Alcala Municipal Mayor Jojo B. Callejo to cover the requirement for the land development and construction of 54 loft-type row housing units.

The remaining P10 million will be downloaded to the LGU after submission of report on physical accomplishments indicating utilization of 80% of the first tranche.

The project was made possible under the NHA’s Resettlement Assistance Program to the LGUs (RAP-LGU). The Alcala Resettlement Project shall involve the construction of row houses that would generate 54 housing units intended for the qualified families residing in danger areas, those affected by the infrastructure projects in the municipality, those with court orders for eviction, and other low-income families who are qualified for relocation and resettlement assistance under the RAP-LGU guidelines and provided by existing laws.

The project site is 51,440 square meters of land-titled in the name of Alcala LGU, Pangasinan. Each housing unit shall consist of a modal lot size of 50 sqm and floor area of 27.50 sqm.

The P25 million budget allocated to the LGU is in a form of a grant and therefore not recoverable from the LGU. However, the LGU may recover the project costs from the beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability of the Alcala Resettlement Project under its terms and conditions and shall be used exclusively for the acquisition and/or development of other resettlement projects.
