National Housing Authority (NHA) Region IV-B released a total of P21.250 million cash assistance to 4,250 families affected by Typhoon Odette in the Province of Palawan on December 29, 2021.
NHA MIMAROPA Officer-in-Charge, Engr. Maximo R. Cabasal led the ceremonial turnover of P15 million checks to the Provincial Government of Palawan to assist 3,000 families affected by the typhoon. Vice Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates and Provincial Treasurer Elino Mondragon received financial assistance from NHA.
On the same date, NHA MIMAROPA District released P6.250 million funds to the City Government of Puerto Princesa, Palawan to benefit 1,250 more families through City Administrator Arnel Pedrosa and City Treasurer Ms. Corazon Agbayari.
NHA General Manager Marcelino P. Escalada, Jr., directed the immediate release and distribution of special financial assistance to families devastated by Typhoon Odette in Regions IVB, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and XIII.
On December 21, 2021, President Rodrigo R. Duterte placed these regions under a state of calamity through Proclamation No. 1267 to hasten the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts of the government and private sector.
The President has instructed the NHA to assist affected families whose houses were damaged or destroyed by the typhoon.
In response to President Duterte’s directive, NHA GM Escalada ordered the immediate allocation and release of cash assistance to these families through the local and provincial government units in the affected areas and issued NHA Memorandum Circular No. 2021-070, implementing the Special Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).
Under the Special EHAP, NHA shall provide P5,000.00 for each beneficiary family to rebuild their houses, regardless of the extent of damage sustained.
