National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Joeben Tai led the distribution of P4.935 million in financial assistance to families affected by the recent flash floods in Northern Mindanao on January 20, 2023.

Among the recipients of the P5,000 cash assistance under the NHA Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) were 987 victim-families from Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, whose houses were damaged and destroyed by the shear line weather disruption last December 2022.

GM Tai ordered the release of the EHAP funds following the directive of President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos, Jr., to all government agencies to immediately assist all affected families.

In his message, GM Tai said, “The NHA, under my leadership and the Build Better and More Housing program, is relentlessly fulfilling its mandate to help improve and develop the standard of living of poor families, and those living in danger areas.”

He added: “We continue to do this to fulfill one of the wishes of our President to have a progressive and peaceful life for our fellow Filipinos by building resettlement sites and supporting those affected by calamities and disasters.”

“To all the family-beneficiaries today, we hope this small amount will help you start over,” the GM said.

Joining GM Tai in the EHAP distribution were Gingoog City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa and Vice Mayor Thaddeus P. Lugod; NHA Region X Manager Engr. Alfonso L. Borlagdan and NHA Region X District 1 Manager Engr. Fe P. Ancheta.

Meanwhile, under GM Tai’s administration, the NHA released P2.39 billion in EHAP funds in 2022 alone, benefiting 250,997 calamity-victim families in rebuilding their houses.
