The National Housing Authority (NHA) released a total of P90 million in financial assistance for 18,000 families affected by Typhoon Odette in the Province of Negros Occidental on December 29, 2021.
NHA, represented by Region VI Chief Corporate Attorney John Leo Solinap and Negros Occidental District OIC Liezl C. Miquit, turned over the check to Provincial Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson in a ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall Negros Occidental.
Present during the ceremony were La Carlota City Mayor Rex R. Jalando-on, Hinobaan Municipal Mayor Ernesto A. Estrao, Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Mayor Lawrence Marx Len J. Dela Cruz, Ilog Municipal Mayor John Paul K. Alvarez, La Castellana Municipal Mayor Rhumyla N. Mangalimutan, Candon Municipal Vice-Mayor May Joy Lambot-Gargar, San Enrique Municipal Mayor Jilson D. Tubillara, Isabela Municipal Mayor Irene G. Montilla, Hinigaran Municipal Mayor Jose Nadie P. Arceo, and Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz.
The Special Emergency Housing Assistance Program (Special EHAP) Fund is provided under NHA Memorandum Circular No. 2021-070, signed by General Manager Marcelino P. Escalada Jr., to immediately help families whose houses were damaged or destroyed by Typhoon Odette.
Under the Special EHAP, NHA shall provide P5,000 for each beneficiary family to rebuild their houses, regardless of the extent of damage sustained.
