The National Housing Authority (NHA) relocated 31 informal settler families (ISFs) occupying the National Government Center Housing and Development Project (NGCHDP) in Batasan Hills, Quezon City for the development of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) on April 7 to 8, 2022.
The NHA NGCHDP led the relocation of the remaining 31 ISFs to Tala II Residences, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City. On April 7, 2022, NHA relocated 14 families, and on April 8, 2022, it transferred 17 remaining ISFs. The NHA, in partnership with other government agencies, provided trucking and van assistance, food packs, P15,000 financial assistance, and P1,000 food assistance to the families.
Ms. San Gabriel said the National Government Center Administration Committee (NGCAC), through Resolution Nos. 001 s. 2016 and 014 s. 2016, approved the lot allocation of the PAO and has downloaded P146 million to cover the expenses for the relocation, financial assistance, and other operational activities for the families affected by the development and construction of their office.
NHA conducted the clearing of Kalayaan St., Barangay Batasan Hills, NGCHDP, QC in 2018 from ISFs wherein 157 families have been relocated. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and quarantine protocols, the NHA NGC halted the clearing and relocation of the affected ISFs.
However, Ms. San Gabriel said PAO Chairperson Presida Acosta requested the immediate clearing of occupants in the said area. Hence, on December 7, 2021, the NHA East Sector Regional Office conducted an occupancy verification of the remaining residents and confirmed that there are still 31 families occupying the site.
