The National Housing Authority (NHA), led by the Indigenous Peoples and Former Rebels Coordinating Office, joined other government agencies in the observance of National Peace Consciousness Month with the theme “Pagkakaisa at Paghilom: Isang Bansa Para sa Kapayapaan” at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on September 1, 2022.
The event is in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 675, declaring the month of September as National Peace Consciousness Month. In support of the opening celebration, the NHA put up an information booth, complete with a TV set showcasing the NHA’s housing program for former rebels (FRs) and Kapatiran members as its contribution to the government in providing reconciliation and reintegration programs of FRs into mainstream society, as well as rehabilitation of their communities.

The activity kicked off with the ringing of the World Peace Bell by Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (PAPRU) Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. The World Peace Bell is a donation from the World Peace Bell Association, which promotes awareness of the world peace movement.
In his message of peace, Secretary Galvez conveyed his appreciation to government agencies participating in the said event. “We are very thankful to them for shepherding the peace process throughout all these years.” He also laid the five-point peace, reconciliation, and unity agenda of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
NHA is one of the national agencies supporting the government’s objective of genuine and long-lasting peace for the country through its housing programs intended to reintegrate rebel returnees into mainstream society.
Simultaneously, NHA regional offices across the country joined the celebration by posting information materials in their respective offices promoting NHA’s housing programs for former rebels and Kapatiran members.
