TRUE to its commitment to support the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program of the government, the National Housing Authority (NHA) will turn over a total of P25-million housing assistance to the BP2 pilot project in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, on November 24, 2020.
Located in Brgy. Tacub, Kauswagan, the 6.395-hectare Bagong Pag-Asa Organic Village shall comprise of 25 quadruplex units allotted for the 100 BP2 beneficiary-families. Each housing unit will have an average floor area of 30sq.m and an average lot area of 80 sq.m.
BP2 Council Executive Director and NHA General Manager Marcelino P. Escalada Jr. will grace the turnover ceremony, along with cabinet secretaries of BP2 participating partner-agency representatives and BP2 initiator Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go. This turnover event is organized in partnership with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), NHA, provincial and local government officials of Kausawagan and other stakeholders.
BP2 program shall benefit low-income families who opt to move out of NCR or other highly urbanized cities, and return or relocate to other provinces due to but not limited to the following circumstances: a) voluntary decision to return to the provinces; b) loss of job or other sources of income; c) unsafe current dwelling places; and d) exposure to health and safety risks and other environmental hazards.
Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte in Northern Mindanao (Region X) is identified as one of the pilot areas for the implementation of BP2 program for 2020 with its Mayor Rommel Arnado to lead its BP2 project management office (PMO). To sustain BP2 initiatives, the BP2 Secretariat will be composed of Regional Development Council X (RDC-X), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Region X (NEDA-X), along with MinDA, NHA and local and national agencies to implement a centralized BP2 planning, management and execution.
