The National Housing Authority (NHA) Region I/CAR I turned over 64 duplex housing units in Nueva Era Resettlement Project to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte on October 26, 2021.

The turnover ceremony was led by NHA Region I/CAR I Manager Engr. Maria Belinda V. Sevalla, with NHA Abra/La Union/Ilocos Norte/Ilocos Sur District Manager Engr. Jefferson F. Ganado, Nueva Era Mayor Atty. Aldrin R. Garvida, and Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos-Manotoc who praised the NHA and Nueva Era Local Government Unit (LGU) in providing housing assistance to its constituents while calling for other LGUs in Ilocos Norte to follow suit.

The Nueva Era Resettlement Project began construction in December 2020 and was completed in September 2021. This ceremonial handover is a joint initiative between the NHA and the Nueva Era LGU of providing resettlement assistance to the qualified beneficiaries in the province under the NHA’s Resettlement Assistance Program to the Local Government Unit (RAP-LGU). The Regional Resettlement Program addresses the LGUs’ resettlement needs as well as the implementation of local/regional resettlement projects as a joint National Government and Local Government initiative.

The said activities coincide with the celebration of National Shelter Month headed by the DHSUD and participated by various Key Shelter Agencies (KSA) as part of its commitment to helping Filipino families have decent housing and sustainable communities.
