The National Housing Authority (NHA), through its Regional VII Negros Oriental/Siquijor District Office, has turned over the first tranche of resettlement funds to the City Government of Bayawan, Negros Oriental on January 25, 2022.

Under the NHA Resettlement Assistance Program for Local Government Units (RAP-LGU), the Authority provides funding assistance to LGUs for the development of resettlement projects for its constituents which includes families living in danger areas, those affected by government infrastructure projects within the locality, those with court orders for eviction, and other qualified low-income families.

NHA Region VII Manager Engr. Hermes Jude G. Juntillo led the ceremonial turnover of the check amounting to P11.256 million Bayawan City Mayor Pryde Henry Teves with NHA Negros Oriental/Siquijor District Manager Enp Claire de Lune P. Villanueva and Chief Corporate Accountant Genesis Caesar Manalili.

The P11.256 million funding assistance represents the first tranche of the P50 Million budget allocated to the Bayawan City government for the development and construction of the Enzo Town Homes Housing Project in Malabugas Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.

The Enzo Town Homes housing project is a 65,160 square meter property owned by the City Government of Bayawan, Negros Oriental, proposed to be developed into serviced home plots with housing units. The city government intends to generate 249 serviced lots and 122 housing units, 56 of which are duplex-type with an average lot size of 94 sq. meters.

Meanwhile, the remaining tranches shall be downloaded to the LGU after submitting a report on physical accomplishments indicating the utilization of 80% of the first tranche.

The P50 million budget allocated to the LGU is a grant and therefore, not recoverable from the LGU. However, the LGU may recover the project costs from the beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability of the Enzo Town Homes Housing Project under its terms and conditions and shall be used exclusively for the acquisition and development of other resettlement projects.
