The National Housing Authority (NHA), in partnership with the Las Piñas City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), launches a Community Grocery Store under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program for the beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) residing in Madrigal Compound, Brgy. Daniel Fajardo, Las Piñas City on July 15, 2022.
Under the EPAHP Program, said beneficiaries shall receive a fully-furnished “Community Grocery Store” that comes with an initial capital to run the business. Serving as a group enterprise, this initiative helps small communities to earn profit while learning entrepreneurship at the same time. “Usually puro sari-sari store lang ang itinatayo natin, but we are now proud to say that we are able to build this Community Grocery Store,” said CSWD Officer-in-Charge Lowefe T. Romulo.
Prior to the program launching, all SLP officers attended a five-day training on business management, leadership and entrepreneurial skills, such as accountancy and book-keeping to aid them in growing the community endeavor. NHA, Las Piñas CSWD among other government agencies initiated the skill trainings and capacity building for the beneficiaries.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako na dito napili ng ating CSWD na gawin ang programang Community Grocery Store. Itong Madrigal Compound ay isa sa mga resettlement sites ng NHA at tunay na napakahalaga po nito para sa ating mga beneficiaries,” NHA NCR-South Sector Regional Manager Ar. Luis S. Bacamante shared in his opening remarks.
Also present in the event were Alvin Sevilla of EPAHP, DSWD NCR Regional Program Coordinator Esperanza A. Mangoba, Brgy. Daniel Fajardo Captain Robert Cristobal, Las Piñas CSWD, NHA South Sector staff, SLP officers and beneficiaries.
