President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, with National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino P. Escalada, Jr., led the awarding of 12 housing units in Madayaw Residences to qualified government employee-beneficiaries on June 23, 2022, in a ceremony held in Davao City.
Among the awardees are employees from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) Region XI, Home Mutual Development Fund Region XI, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples XI, Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Corrections, and City Health Office of Davao.
In his message, GM Escalada congratulated the beneficiaries. “We hope and pray the blessings will overflow in your family as you stay in these homes”, he continued. President Duterte meanwhile congratulated the NHA for completing the housing project despite the many challenges during the pandemic.
Madayaw Residences located at Brgy. Talomo District, Davao City is NHA’s first low-rise building constructed outside Metro Manila. It is also one of the first housing projects introduced under the New AFP/PNP Housing Program, following President Duterte’s instructions for NHA to formulate, manage, and implement a Revitalized Government Employees and AFP/PNP Housing Project. It is a five-story, low-rise building project that will benefit 640 beneficiaries. It has 42 sqm for Units A and 36 sqm for unit B.
Enhanced designs under the Government Employees Housing Program have a maximum lot area of 150 sqm and floor area of 60 sqm for horizontal housing, while condominium-type housing such as the Madayaw Residences have a 36 to 42 sqm floor area.
Meanwhile, joining President Duterte and GM Escalada were Senators Christopher Lawrence T. Go and Joseph Victor Ejercito; Executive Secretary, Sec. Salvador C. Medialdea; Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Region XI Director Alex C. Roberto Mauro Miguel T. Palma Gil; Department of Interior and Local Government Region XI Director Alex C. Roldan; DTI Regional Director Maria Belinda Q. Ambi; AFP EASTMINCOM Commander Lt. Gen. Greg T. Almirol; and PNP XI Regional Director PB Gen. Benjamin H. Silo, Jr. Other government officials from local and national agencies also graced the event.
